The Museum Store specializes in regional history publications, literature and children's books. The store also carries a selection of old-fashioned and new-fangled games and toys.
Holiday Ornaments
Be sure and visit the Museum Store during the holiday shopping season for gifts with the flavor of the Eastern Shore. Holiday ornaments feature “history in the box.” Each decoration comes with a specially written story card in a windowed gift box. Three of our most popular ornaments are featured below. Ornaments are available for purchase NOW. Last year the most popular ones sold out, so shop early.

The Blue Crab
Callinectes sapidus
The blue crab stands as one of the best-known symbols of the Chesapeake Bay. In Latin, the name of this bottom-dwelling predator translates as "Beautiful swimmer that is savory." Since the mid-1800s, these savory crustaceans have been caught commercially in the Chesapeake. Many years we have sold out of this ornament. Shop early in November to be sure of catching yours.

Each year we introduce a new ornament. Collect them all.
The Wye Oak Acorns and Leaf (2009)
The Wye Oak was once the largest oak in Maryland. It no longer stands in Talbot County, but its acorns have produced many new trees. Add some Wye Oak to your Christmas tree.

Canada Goose (2008)

A flock of Canada geese in an Eastern Shore field inspired James A. Michener to write his novel "Chesapeake" in 1978.

Great Blue Heron (2007)
Whether flying majestically overhead or standing at the water's edge, the Great Blue Heron embodies grace and elegance. It is a popular symbol of the Chesapeake Bay.

Maryland Terapin (2006)
"The most aristocratic reptile" proclaimed a Talbot County newspaper in 1928. In the 19th century, terrapin became appreciated as a gourmet food. As the University of Maryland mascot, we expect these terapins to sell out. Be sure to grab one for yourself.

Talbot County Christmas Chicken (2005)
Talbot county farms have always raised chickens for their own use. By the mid-1930s, a switch to commercial production began. Paralleling the Baby Boom of the 1950s, a Great Chicken Boom took place in Talbot County. poultry production catapulted past truck farming as the leading force in the agricultural economy.

The Talbot Christmas Tomato (2004)
The steady staccato “clink, clink, clink” of empty cans winding along a conveyor line once provided the background music for canning plants throughout Talbot County. The county's first cannery opened in 1875.
